The Exchange Market at Newport on the Levee Opens this Saturday
Artisan market featuring ten local concepts transforms the Levee into one-stop holiday shop
CINCINNATI (November 10, 2020) – Ten local businesses will open this Saturday at entertainment mixed-use destination Newport on the Levee as part of the Exchange Market, a revolving, 11,000-square-foot artisan market. Curated with holiday gift-giving in mind, local real estate company North American Properties (NAP) invites the community to discover the market’s incredible lineup of vendors, which includes new additions Queen City Cotton Candy and Ten Thousand Villages.
“The Exchange Market’s collection of makers and merchants transforms the Levee into a true holiday shopping destination,” said Regan (Noppenberger) Thomas, leasing representative at NAP. “In addition to creating a dynamic and vibrant retail experience unlike anything in the region, the market gives small businesses and local entrepreneurs a platform to bring their concepts to life in an active, mixed-use environment, which continues to be a primary focus of the Levee’s redevelopment.”
Earlier this month, NAP announced the following vendors were joining the Exchange Market: wine and charcuterie bar Ripple Wine Bar; speciality culinary company Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices; general store-style concept Farmhouse Goods Company; handcrafted soapworks and homegoods maker &Sundries; mission-driven clothing company ANEW Clothing; community-minded book shop Roebling Books & Coffee; and clothing and accessories shop Bluegrass & Sass.
The final concepts to be announced for the market’s opening lineup include:
Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the world. As part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the country, Ten Thousand Villages features products from more than 130 artisan groups and 38 countries.
Queen City Cotton Candy, a Cincinnati-based, gourmet cotton candy cart that turns spinning tasty cotton candy into an unforgettable experience.
The Micro Shop, a rotating vendor space that will debut a surprising new local concept approximately every two weeks at the market.
Throughout the holiday season, the market will play host to a variety of live music and festive experiences, including cookie decorating workshops, holiday-themed fitness classes, storytime with Santa and happy hours. Beginning Nov. 19, Kon-Tiki will debut its Fire Lounge at the Levee, complete with heated seasonal Garden Igloos overlooking the Ohio River. Each of the five igloos will offer a personal sound system and comfortable lounge seating for up to eight guests. Reservations for the igloos are now available, and can be made here. More details about the Levee’s holiday activations will be announced soon.
In addition to exploring the newly opened Exchange Market, guests visiting the Levee this weekend can also experience Gameday on the Levee at Bridgeview Box Park. On Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m., football fanatics are invited to cheer on their favorite college team on the big screen. Starting at noon on Sunday, guests are welcome to gear up to watch NFL football. The 1:00 game features the Cleveland Browns vs. The Houston Texans, and the marquee event, the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers at 4:25 p.m. For the safety of the community, socially distanced turf square will be available on the Plaza. The Exchange Market is located on the ground floor of the Exchange building, and features a direct connection with the Bridgeview Box Park, as well as access to the Riverwalk and Plaza. NAP will be weather-proofing the box park in time for the Thanksgiving holiday to create a lively, all-season environment that extends from the shipping container park to the Exchange.
The opening of the Exchange Market is an important milestone in NAP’s ongoing redevelopment of the Levee. Phase two of the redevelopment is underway, which includes renovations to the 113,000-square-foot Gallery Building, the addition of open-air communal spaces, and enhancements to increase connectivity throughout the property. A fly-through video showcasing the future of the Levee can be viewed at www.newportonthelevee.com. Live camera feeds of the ongoing work can be accessed at www.newportonthelevee.com/construction-livestream.
NAP’s COVID-response program, Better Together, continues to create a comfortable environment for the community to come together at the Levee. As part of the effort, NAP established a number of safety measures and changes on property, such as the addition of artful hexagons on the ground of the Central Plaza to remind guests to keep a 6-foot distance. The full list of safety measures can be found here.
