Galley Group Announces First Three Concepts at The Galley on the Levee Food Hall

Indulge in American, Italian and Mexican flavors prepared by local chefs

Newport, Kentucky (July 11, 2023) – Following a call for chefs announced by Galley Group in February, the Pittsburgh-based food hall development and management company has selected its first three concepts for The Galley on the Levee. Los Tacos Hermanos, Four Mile Pig and Zaria Italian Street Eats will make their debut in the food hall opening at Newport on the Levee later this year.

Culinary Lineup

Los Tacos Hermanos – Filipino immigrant Mapi De Veyra, one of the creators behind DOPE! Asian Street Fareand Decibel Korean Fried Chicken, is teaming up with some of his former industry colleagues to create this Mexican-style restaurant. Like all great ideas, Los Tacos Hermanos was inspired by conversations shared over staff meals at Quan Hapa, where De Veyra worked for eight years prior to launching his own establishments. The concept is an ode to his old sous and head chefs, designed to help them get their own business started. Its menu will feature street tacos with a West Coast flare along with burritos, tortas, appetizers and sides, like carne asada fries, a popular dish invented in San Diego that hasn’t quite yet hit the Cincinnati food scene.

Four Mile Pig – Robert Viox retired as vice president of Food and Beverage at Jack Cleveland Casino in spring 2019 and pursued his passion of entrepreneurship, launching small-batch BBQ restaurant Four Mile Pig. Chef Jarrod Ante, a former military member who studied culinary education at the Cincinnati Arts Institute and has had the privilege of cooking for presidents as well as thousands of troops, joined Viox in 2021 to grow the brand. Four Mile Pig now has four locations in Kentucky and Ohio and the pair has been anxiously awaiting the perfect opportunity to expand further into NKY, where they’ve cultivated a loyal customer base over the years. The fast-casual restaurant offers smoked meats and wings, handcrafted sides, authentic Italian beef sandwiches and burgers, plus, six sauces bottled in-house.

Zaria Italian Street Eats – Viox and Ante are also introducing this new concept derived from hearty and healthy Italian dishes. Named after Viox’s newest granddaughter Zaria, the eatery will offer a mix of pizzas, including gluten-free options, hand-rolled piadas, and pasta bowls that can be ordered as is or custom-made. Local and fresh ingredients will be sourced to ensure authenticity. Kentucky design company Neltner Small Batch is designing the restaurant’s brand identity.

“We are excited to partner with these well-regarded chefs, who bring their knowledge of the community, as well as their experience in food halls to The Galley,” said Chad Ellingboe, CEO of Galley Group.

One restaurant space remains available at The Galley on the Levee as the team seeks the best complement to the existing lineup. Chefs with a culinary background who are creative, driven, innovative, and ready to launch their own concept in a low-risk environment are encouraged to apply by emailing press@galleygrp.com. A resume, restaurant concept description, sample menus and pricing for brunch, lunch and dinner services, and branding materials such as a logo must be submitted for consideration.

Aside from the culinary talent, Kentucky-based female artist duo Pink Merl Design Co. has been tapped to paint a 12 feet by 12 feet interior mural.

Located adjacent to Central Plaza, the 7,900-square-foot Galley on the Levee will include four restaurants, a signature bar experience spilling out into Bridgeview Box Park, and 1,200 square feet of outdoor gathering space. The food hall’s addition will bring Newport on the Levee’s locally owned business collection to 23.
