Things Just Got a Little Greener at Newport on the Levee

Property Introduces Recycling Expansion to Merchants

Newport on the Levee (NOTL), in conjunction with All States Mall Services, has introduced a new, single-stream recycling initiative to the property’s merchants.

Beginning March, 2013 NOTL will expand its recycling program by inviting Levee merchants to participate in a new single-stream recycling program. Single-stream recycling allows merchants to combine recyclables in one container rather than separating. Merchants may then deliver their recycling waste into one of two, 6-cubic yard recycling containers that will be located in two designated locations on the property.

NOTL’s introduction of the new, single-stream recycling initiative is part of an overall program toward becoming a “greener” property. In 2011, NOTL installed energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs in the main parking garage. The project has proven to be environmentally conscious by reducing the electrical demand in the area but also “brightened” up the garage with a wider light distribution. In 2012 NOTL installed new high efficiency fixtures in the Gallery Building. In 2013 NOTL is continuing the effort to become a “greener” property by retrofitting remaining interior lighting with energy conserving LED bulbs. Plans are also underway for an exterior LED retrofit.
