Things keep getting bigger at Newport on the Levee

Newport, KY – December 30, 2014 – In November, Newport on the Levee (NOTL) announced some BIG news: the groundbreaking on the new, $80M development on the surface lot located to the east of the property. Now, a month into construction, visitors may notice something really BIG on the development site; a 120 ft. tower crane.

The giant crane was brought to the site in five semi truckloads and was implanted in a concrete foundation. Once the crane was at the site, it took the construction team approximately one week to assemble the crane and have it operational. The crane is expected to call the development site home for approximately one year.

What exactly is a tower crane? A tower crane is used in major development projects to assist the construction team in the movement of heavy materials from different locations across the site, as well as guide the placement of steel.

The tower crane has not been the only BIG progression at the development. To-date contractors have removed more than 22,000 tons of dirt from the site, which is about 1/3 of the total excavation.
